SnapAnswer Privacy Policy
SnapAnswer (“the Extension”) is a Chrome extension that lets you snip or type a question on a webpage and send it to an AI provider you choose. This policy explains what data is handled and how.
Summary
- Your API key and settings are stored locally in your browser.
- Snipped content and questions are sent only to the AI provider you configure, and only when you ask.
- SnapAnswer does not run its own accounts, analytics, or ad tracking.
- We do not sell your data.
Data stored on your device
Using Chrome’s local extension storage, SnapAnswer may save:
- On/off state
- Chosen AI provider, model, and (if used) custom API base URL
- Your API key for that provider
- Notch / dock position preferences
- Temporary chat seed data when you open the chat tab
This data stays on your device unless you clear extension data or uninstall SnapAnswer.
Data sent over the network
When you snip a region or submit a question, SnapAnswer sends the selected text and/or a cropped screenshot, plus basic page context (page title and URL), to the AI API endpoint you configured (for example OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Groq, or a custom endpoint).
Those providers process the request under their own terms and privacy policies. SnapAnswer does not receive a copy of that content on a SnapAnswer server — there is no SnapAnswer backend for answers.
Permissions
- storage — save settings and API key locally
- scripting — inject the snip UI into the active tab when you enable SnapAnswer
- Host access — show the snip tool on normal web pages and capture the region you select
Children
SnapAnswer is not directed at children under 13. Do not use it with personal information from children if you are not permitted to do so.
Changes
We may update this policy when the Extension’s data practices change. The “Last updated” date above will be revised when that happens.
